Duties

  • Co-hosting guests during mealtimes.
  • Managing table settings.
  • Serving and clearing tables.
  • Managing the bar, including fulfilling and serving drinks orders.
  • Ensuring a fast and efficient service to the guests.
  • Adhering to our high standards at all times, with a goal of fulfilling maximum guest satisfaction. 
  • Ensuring eco-friendly and sustainable solutions wherever possible.
  • Assisting with the management of the organic vegetable, fruit and herb garden.
  • Ensuring that any complaints are dealt with immediately and in a manner satisfactory to the guest.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health codes and regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric
  • Hospitality-related tertiary qualification (advantageous)
  • Driving licence (advantageous)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Food and beverage knowledge
  • Working knowledge of restaurant operations
  • Ability to work various shifts

Travel Reservations Manager

Job brief

You will be working with a team of diligent but affable creatives and marketing experts, who have an eagerness to go above and beyond for clients. We are looking for someone who hits the ground running and seeks new opportunities to grow the business at every corner, while running a tight ship with guest bookings.

 

You will manage your own workload, liaising with and reporting regularly to the CEO.

 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, experience in the travel sector, and be well-versed with a variety of bookings systems, travel procedures and policies. It is imperative that you have the capability to actively discover new ways to do the job more efficiently.


Duties

  • Manage bookings across all Fire Island Eco Retreats properties.

  • Oversee all 3rd party platforms listings.

  • Arrange ground logistics including transport and transfers between properties (excluding flights).

  • Manage newsletter subscriptions and ideas for newsletter topics and specials.

  • Seasonal planning/marketing plan including research to get new business.

  • Event and tour package suggestions and planning.

  • Ensure expired offers are removed across all platforms in a timely manner.

  • Manage tour operator connections and gather details for the contact database.

  • Suggest marketing material when required.

  • Research, suggest, plan and attend expos.

  • Follow up on cold leads.

  • Follow up on newsletter leads.

  • Monthly reporting on enquiries, bookings, sign-ups etc.

  • Bookkeeping: reporting of all income & expenses, including any services paid for or offered via other suppliers – ensuring all is covered and recorded.

  • Stay on-brand by ensuring eco-friendly and sustainable solutions, wherever possible.

  • Booking platform management requirements:

    Currency changes to be monitored and changes suggested when needed.
    Calendar check-ins, availability and integrations pulling through.
    Test contact forms regularly.
    All property listings kept up to date.
    Able to work on the booking platform and track all bookings & movements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric

  • Hospitality diploma/certificate (advantageous)

  • At least 2 – 5 years of experience

  • In-depth knowledge of the travel industry 

  • Proficient in reservation systems – e.g. Semper, Nightsbridge etc

  • An analytical mind with problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities

  • A team player with leadership skills

  • Eco-conscious attitude and habits

Desirable Knowledge

  • Proven experience managing travel reservations

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans. A third language will be advantageous

  • Proficiency in SAGE (advantageous)

Job brief

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to help oversee the daily support operations of the hotel, working with guests, hotel staff and restaurant staff, and supporting the management of reservations. You will assist in leading a team of hotel and restaurant staff and will report to the General Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, experience in the hospitality sector, be well-versed in departmental procedures and policies and will be able to actively discover new ways to do the job more efficiently.

The goal is to ensure all support activities are carried on efficiently and effectively to allow all operations to function properly.

 

Duties

  • Assist in the management and operation of the hotel and restaurant.
  • Help the General Manager with any ad hoc duties assigned to you.
  • Ensure outstanding service to guests at all times.
  • Answer questions and respond to queries regarding reservations, hotel information and guest concerns.
  • Assist in the supervision of the daily shift process.
  • Help to resolve customer queries and complaints.
  • Assist all departments in servicing the guests.
  • Help to assess staff performance and provide coaching and guidance to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure the smooth and adequate flow of information within the hotel to facilitate business operations.
  • Stay on-brand by ensuring eco-friendly and sustainable solutions wherever possible.
  • Assist with the management of the organic vegetable, fruit and herb garden.
  • Ensure garden produce is incorporated within the restaurant menu.
